About Me

I’m a sophisticated Southern girl…I like a little bit of everything…arts, movies, tennis, hiking, food…..La Dolce Vita!

OK, true confession….the above was my Match.com profile title. In reality, I sit at home and watch re-runs of Leave it to Beaver and Star Trek episodes (“Trouble with Tribbles”, anyone?) I also tape every General Hospital episode possible. I was sad when Rick Springfield gave up acting to become a one-hit wonder.

Alright, now I’m going to be serious, the above is not true…. anymore.   These shows give me actual hives and bad memories of being forced to watch them endlessly….. at a tender young age…too shy to speak up for myself….because someone else had the remote and got home first.

beginning again…..

I AM an unabashed, curious cat. While I’m known for puttering around the home—picking up books, magazines and catalogues, and actually reading them instead of letting them weigh down my coffee table to impress my neighbors—I also love to experience new adventures—whether it’s travelling abroad or going snow camping.  I am a mountaineer you know.

Time is spent attending arts and culture events for work and pleasure. I believe the arts tell alot about a person, therefore, they tell alot about our society. They are the most accurate expression of our joint uber psyche. (mumbo jumbo, jiggeldy jick)

I love, love, love to eat at wonderful restaurants and aspire to cook great meals. I consider myself a hot wings and mozzarella sticks connoisseur, a cheese whiz, a raw oysters radical (Malpeque baby), and a key lime pie snob (it’s not supposed to be green).

Matching disparate things comes naturally and joyously. I recently started a book/restaurant exploration group called the Gastroliterary Society or Gaslit for short. Nerdy, yes, profound, no, but it combines my two favorite things…books and eating! We’re a small but passionate group.

In my spare time, when I’m not out climbing glaciers or on the lookout for wildcats, I love taking classes in things I know nothing about or want to be better at (aerial basket weaving, sea kayaking, the history of Ecuador ;)). And if that doesn’t take up enough time, I also teach at USC….my “night job”, so to speak.

So there you have it. You know me intimately. We are one. Mano y mano. Hope you like the scatological, random ramblings. I thank you for your time.

Very interesting. Two minor things: “alot” is two words. “Mano y mano” is masculine. Why don’t you feature your rating system for restaurants.

Sorry it took me so long to comment.

One last thing: do you have a pic of you looking at the camera. That would be good above.
